Vivian Chin, MD, MPH is the founder and medical director of Koru Wellness Aesthetics, a boutique physician-led aesthetic practice on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
Dr. Chin grew up on the Upper East Side and attended The Brearley School. As the daughter of a dermatologist, she was exposed to skincare from an early age and became fascinated by the connection between skin health, confidence, and well-being.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Vassar College, her Master of Public Health from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. She later completed postgraduate study in Health Sciences at the University of Auckland and Practical Dermatology at Cardiff University.
Her interest in skincare extends beyond medical aesthetics. Dr. Chin also trained as an aesthetician at the Dermalogica Academy in Manhattan, giving her an additional perspective on skincare ingredients, professional treatments, and individualized home-care regimens.
A Thoughtful Approach to Aesthetic Medicine
Dr. Chin believes aesthetic treatment should begin with understanding the individual rather than selecting a procedure first.
Skin type, anatomy, medical history, previous treatments, lifestyle, tolerance for downtime, and personal goals all influence what she recommends. Sometimes that means proceeding with the treatment a patient originally had in mind. Other times, another approach may be better suited — or the right answer may simply be “not yet.”
Her goal is not to make patients look artificially younger. It is to help them look good for who they are — refreshed, balanced, and still recognizably themselves.

Beyond the Practice
Outside of medicine, Dr. Chin enjoys photography and travel — especially combining the two — and lives in Manhattan with her husband and two young sons.
