A VI Body Peel can help address dark spots or acne on different areas of the body. We recommend a consultation with Dr. Chin or one of our aestheticians to make sure a treatment is right for you and to discuss a treatment plan.
We all want you to love your results with us at Koru Wellness Aesthetics!
We recommend keeping these tips in mind to get the best results.
BEFORE TREATMENT
- Avoid any professional treatment that exfoliates your skin for 2 weeks prior to your VI Peel Body treatment.
- Discontinue use of exfoliating products like scrubs, AHAs, and Retinoic Serum 24-48 hours prior to your visit.
- Avoid waxing for 7 days prior to visit. Shaving can be done 24 hours prior to visit.
- Avoid tanning beds and self-tanner for 7 days prior to visit.
ON THE DAY OF TREATMENT
- Wear loose clothing to your treatment. Cotton-based is best.
- For the first 4 hours after peeling, avoid applying any topical products and avoid washing the treated area(s).
AFTER TREATMENT
- Follow the instructions provided in the aftercare booklet and/or download the VI Peel App.
- Normal side effects include but are not limited to: redness, mild stinging, dryness, mild itching.
During the 7-10 days post-peel:
- Use the Retinoic Serum morning and night until flaking or peeling begins, then immediately discontinue use.
- Use the Post Treatment Repair Cream any time your skin feels dry or itchy.
- Avoid hot water on the treated area. Lukewarm water is best.
- When cleansing the area, use only your fingertips and avoid washcloths, loofahs, or anything abrasive.
- Cleanse the skin using a gentle cleanser with no fragrance or active ingredients (VI Derm Gentle Purifying Cleanser, Dove, Cetaphil, etc.).
- Avoid direct sun exposure on treated areas.
- Use SPF 50+ on treated areas when outdoors, including while driving.
- Avoid sweat-inducing environments until peeling begins. This includes aerobic exercise, saunas, etc.
- Wear loose-fitting, cotton-based products on the treated area.
Flaking/Peeling typically begins 4-7 days after the peel is applied. When this begins, remembering the following:
- Skin will feel tight or dry right before it peels.
- Do not pick, pull, or roll the skin as this could lead to significant irritation and possible hyperpigmentation and scarring.
- Peeling may look like light flaking, sheet peeling, or may be barely visible to the naked eye.
Flaking/Peeling may last 3-7 days and varies from person to person. If any products in your Patient Aftercare Kit sting or irritate beyond your tolerance, stop and reach out to us.

Special Additional Instructions For Specific Conditions/Areas
Keratosis Pilaris:
- Keep skin moisturized with Post Treatment Repair Cream for the first 7-10 days.
- Use warm water and limit bath time, as hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from the skin. Limit bath or shower time to about 10 minutes or less. Use warm – not hot – water.
- Be gentle to your skin. Avoid harsh, drying soaps. Vigorous scrubbing or removal of hair follicle plugs may irritate the skin and aggravate the condition. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot the skin with a towel so that some moisture remains.
- Maintain results with VI Derm Retinoic Serum to help loosen and remove dead skin cells. Apply this before moisturizer.
- For Fitzpatrick 4, 5, and 6 skin types, a pigment suppressing agent should also be included in the home treatment regimen – you can purchase one at checkout.
- A humidifier may help, as low humidity dries out the skin. A portable home humidifier or one attached to your furnace will add moisture to the air inside your home.
Tinea Versicolor:
- Avoid direct sun exposure during treatment regimen. UV-light exposure will heighten visible discoloration.
- Incorporate Retinoic Serum into your home regimen for maintenance of results.
Acne/Acne Scarring:
- Avoid extrinsic irritants listed above during the post-peel phase.
- For patients who live alone, we suggest a Lotion Applicator to ease application of Retinoic Serum on the back. These are readily available on Amazon or via other retailers.
- For those who exercise frequently, we suggest showering immediately after.
- Incorporate at-home products including Vitamin A, Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide to maintain your results.
Hyperpigmentation/Dyschromia:
- Avoid hot water when showering or cleansing skin. Only cleanse with lukewarm water during the post-peel phase.
- Avoid any exfoliation on treated area including topical products, scrubs, waxing for 2 weeks after peel application.
- Incorporate Retinoic Serum into your home regimen for maintenance of results.
Stretch Marks and Scars:
- Avoid hot water when showering or cleansing skin. Only cleanse with lukewarm water during the post-peel phase.
- Avoid any exfoliation on treated area including topical products, scrubs, waxing for 2 weeks after peel application.
- Incorporate Retinoic Serum into your home regimen for maintenance of results.
Underarms:
- Avoid waxing for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment and 2 weeks post treatment.
- Avoid deodorant during the post-peel phase.
Bikini Area:
- Shave the night prior or wax 1-2 weeks prior to treatment.
